NOTES FOR THE WEEKEND…AND ASKING A FAVOR OF YOU
Been a little busy this week taking care of Elizabeth after her surgery. She had a couple of minor setbacks…but is now doing fine. In fact…we’re just on our way out to the movies to see Clerks II……..
Latest on the Barry Bonds situation: A source tells me that despite the protestations of Bonds’ attorneys…the federal prosecutors feel they have enough evidence to indict BB right now. What are they waiting for? My source says they want to have enough to nail him for perjury AND tax evasion at the same time. Apparently they could go with one–I’m assuming tax evasion–right now…but don’t have quite enough for the perjury charge. If my guy is right–and he usually is–the government must have a big ol’ mad-on for Barry They want him to take up residence in the Graybar Hotel….badly……..
Time for the Dodgers to consider moving Derek Lowe to the bullpen. The guy has been a proven closer in the past…and he blows up too often in games to keep him as a starter. They also need to put together a package and get Dontrelle Willis. They’re in such a weak division it would be a shame for them to choke it away because they won’t give up some minor leaguers for a proven All-Star. The clock is tick…tick…ticking……
For the Angels as well. But stay away from Shea…Bill Stoneman. Hillenbrand…that is. He’s a nut case who’ll bring up bad memories of Jose Guillen. No team–especially a team with post-season aspirations–tosses a .300 hitter unless he’s a real pain in the ass. And how many times have you heard of a manager CHALLENGING a player to a fight?
Lakers management hit your knees tonight and say a prayer–for the quick recovery of Chris Mihm. They need a healthy Mihm to have any chance of being a top 6 team in the West. And with the ankle surgery coming just about 10 weeks before training camp…they might need a miracle recovery for Mihm to miss only a few games at the start of the season……..

If anyone out there has access to and is willing to sell a book called “Speeding Bullet” by Jan Alan Henderson, please drop me an email. It’s a book about the death of TV’s Superman…George Reeves…it’s out of print and almost impossible to find. I’ve become fascinated with Reeves’ demise..originally deemed to be a suicide…but now appears to be murder. A movie called “Hollywoodland” coming out later this summer…..goes into the murder theory……..
