QUICK NOTES FOR A FRIDAY

The Lakers move of signing Vlad Radmonivic has been…to say the least..polarizing. Some–like me–feel it’s a good move which fills a glaring hole for the Lakers–the need for a shooter coming off the bench. Others think the team wasted its money and should have gone after Marcus Banks–a point guard who would have filled the other need. Well, they couldn’t do both with just 5 million dollars available, so they did what they could. And I like it. Now it’s up to the braintrust–and I use that word with much trepidation–to figure out how to get a defense-oriented PG…..

Keeping a leader like Sam Cassell was a must for the Clippers, and they’re potentially even better with Tim Thomas replacing Radmonivic–potentially being the key word. Thomas was great against the Lakers and Clippers in the playoffs, and showed some never-before-seen toughness by playing through a pretty bad knee injury. But his entire career has been one of squandered potential and attitude problems. Has he matured and grown into his potential, or did he go into “salary drive” during the playoffs? The Clips just paid 24 million dollars for the chance to find out………

Summer League is starting at The Pyramid in Long Beach. You can can a bunch of games every day for around ten bucks. It’s definitely worth checking out……..

Nomar Garciaparra definitely deserved to be picked for the All Star team–last Sunday! It’s a joke that he had to win a special election……….

Memo to Bill Stoneman–YOU NEED A POWER HITTER! N O W !

I got an email from someone in the NFL saying that I was way off about Paul Tagliabue wanting to own a piece of the new team here in LA when it happens. Which convinces me more than ever that I’m right………
